In 2004, Baby Moses Dallas organized to get fire departments and hospitals in Dallas County identified as Safe Baby Sites. With the help of local media, we?ve managed to draw attention to this law. Now, when a baby is handed over correctly, it?s not news ? the law is being followed.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no Baby Moses effort to carry out this same education for the rest of Texas. A newborn left in a Corsicana carport on Oct. 29 and the newborn found dead in a Killeen Wal-Mart on Dec. 7 are evidence that folks either still don?t know there is a safe alternative to abandoning an unwanted baby or don?t know how to make use of this law.
To help broaden its range of concern to the whole state, visit babymosesdallas.org and learn more.
