Launched in 2010 by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, New York City?s New Business Acceleration Team (NBAT) was created to help new food services businesses open more quickly by helping to expedite the permitting and approval processes and, to date, has helped more than 600 new restaurants shave an average of 75 days off the time between the beginning of construction and their opening.
Deputy Mayors Caswell F. Holloway and Robert K. Steel, along with Ms. Quinn, are now looking to expand the scope of NBAT?s assistance to include retailers as well and are asking retail business owners to complete the NYC Retail Survey in order to help them identify where and how they can be of most help. ?We want the New Business Acceleration Team to carry its success from the restaurant industry to the retail sector and others, and this survey will ensure that we target the most critical issues that business owners face when they interact with the City,? says Deputy Mayor Caswell F. Holloway.
