NCR and Children?s Healthcare of Atlanta Team Up for 10th Annual NCR Sprint for Cancer Event

Employee-driven 5K, 10K and Fun Run through Dunwoody to benefit pediatric cancer research

Runners, walkers and fitness enthusiasts can shape up for spring and support a great cause on Saturday, April 21 as they step off for the 10th annual NCR Sprint for Cancer, a 5K, 10K, Fun Run and Peachtree Road Race pre-qualifier. Celebrating the 10 year anniversary, this annual employee-driven event has set a fundraising goal to surpass more than $1 million in total contributions company-wide across 10 years of giving.? All proceeds from the NCR Sprint for Cancer Atlanta race will benefit pediatric cancer research at the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children?s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Scheduled to kick off at 8 am on April 21 in the Perimeter Place Shopping Center located at 100 Perimeter Place (Target parking lot) in Dunwoody, the family-friendly NCR Sprint for Cancer is open to all ages and athletic ability and includes a post-race fair and free activities for children. All registered participants will receive a technical, moisture-wicking T-shirt and goody bag with coupons and samples from race sponsors. The 10K race is a Peachtree Road Race pre-qualifier.

Nahas said that throughout the year, NCR employees host a variety of raffles, garage sales, and barbeque lunches in support of the annual event. ?It really is an amazing and inspiring employee-driven effort. I?m thrilled that our organization has taken such an important stand against childhood cancers and I look forward to another successful event,? he added.?

The annual NCR Sprint for Cancer launched in 2003 when employees came together with the goal of creating a charitable event that the entire company could rally around in support of cancer patients and research. The first race took place in the parking lot of the company?s headquarters.? Today, more than 2,200 runners, walkers and volunteers are expected to participate in the 10th annual NCR Sprint for Cancer in multiple cities on April 21 in Atlanta and Dallas/Ft. Worth and May 6, 2012 in Orange County, CA. Proceeds from the Atlanta race will directly benefit Children?s Healthcare of Atlanta.? Since its? inception, the event has collectively raised more than $800,000 for cancer research.?

Individual registration for the 5K or 10K is $20 through April 18, 2012 and $25 starting April 19. Registration is $15 for children wishing to participate in the Fun Run, which includes a race T-shirt and finisher?s ribbon. Phantom runners who are unable to participate but still wish to support the cause are welcome. Strollers are welcome.??
